Dominican Republic Holds Grand Reception in Beijing to Celebrate 7th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations with the People’s Republic of China
On the afternoon of May 21, 2025, the atmosphere at Liangmaqiao Diplomatic Office Complex was both solemn and jubilant as the Dominican Republic hosted a grand reception to celebrate the seventh anniversary of diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. Distinguished attendees included José Julio Gómez Beato, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to China, and Zhang Run, Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, along with numerous other dignitaries.

The reception hall was adorned with the national flags of the Dominican Republic and China, while a stage backdrop prominently displayed the bilingual message: “Celebrating 7 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between the Dominican Republic and the People’s Republic of China ”, creating a vibrant celebratory ambiance.


Ambassador José Julio Gómez Beato delivered an impassioned speech, praising the deepening bilateral ties over the past seven years. He highlighted extensive cooperation in economic, cultural, and educational fields, emphasizing the Dominican Republic’s investment advantages. The ambassador also announced the launch of the new publication “Investing in the Dominican Republic”, expressing hope to attract more Chinese enterprises to explore opportunities and strengthen economic collaboration.


Following this, Zhang Run, Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs, took the stage to convey congratulations on behalf of the Chinese government. He reviewed the journey of mutual respect and mutual benefit since the establishment of diplomatic relations, reaffirming China’s commitment to solidarity with Latin American and Caribbean nations. Director-General Zhang emphasized China’s dedication to advancing bilateral cooperation with the Dominican Republic and contributing to a “China-Latin America community with a shared future.”


The event reached a crescendo as Ambassador Gómez Beato and Director-General Zhang raised their glasses in a toast to mark the anniversary, met with resounding applause. The two leaders then jointly cut a commemorative cake, sharing slices with guests amid smiles and cheers, symbolizing the warmth of bilateral friendship.


The reception also featured captivating cultural performances, including melodious and emotionally resonant vocal performances that echoed the profound friendship between the two nations, as well as soothing violin melodies that filled the hall with artistry, blending seamlessly with the formal yet festive atmosphere.
