Poland's Green Transition Seminar to Kick Off: China and Poland Explore New Opportunities for Green Cooperation
The seminar "Green Transition in Poland – Experiences, Prospects, Technological Developments and Cooperation Opportunities with China", hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in China and Poznan University of Life Sciences, and supported by partners including the China Federation of Economic Media, is set to take place on July 8, 2025. This event aims to build a communication platform for China and Poland in the field of green transition, share experiences and explore further cooperation opportunities.
Green transition is crucial for the European Union's journey towards climate neutrality. Polish transformation, aligned with European goals, is one of the fastest and most consistent in Europe over the past 35 years. Since 1990, Poland has seen a continuous decline in carbon dioxide emissions while its GDP has quadrupled. Currently, 46% of energy production capacity in Poland comes from renewable sources. The country also achieved the 2019 solar capacity target set for 2040 17 years ahead of schedule, accomplishing it in 2023. Despite these significant achievements, Poland's green transition is still an ongoing process, and cooperation and partnerships are vital to its ultimate success, which forms an important background for this seminar.
At the seminar, experts from China and Poland will engage in in-depth exchanges on a number of key topics. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in China will introduce the experiences, current status and prospects of Poland's green transition. Scholars from Poznan University of Life Sciences will share cutting-edge content such as the role of forests in absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, the application of artificial intelligence and digitalization in ecological packaging production, and methods of modifying concrete with innovative environmental materials. Experts from institutions including China Agricultural University and Peking University will also participate in discussions, covering important topics such as rethinking photosynthesis to move towards net-zero emissions and the prospects of global climate negotiations and energy transformation in the context of Sino-US rivalry. In addition, issues such as the impact of EU regulations on EU-China climate cooperation and the current status and direction of energy transition in rural areas of Poland will be included in the discussion, comprehensively covering the policy, technology and practical aspects of green transition.
The holding of this seminar will provide an opportunity for in-depth dialogue between China and Poland in the field of green transition, helping both sides explore new paths in technical exchanges, policy coordination, project cooperation and other aspects, and jointly contributing to global climate action.
