Chinese-Made Robots Transforming Chilean Construction
Chilquinta Energía, a wholly-owned subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China (State Grid), held a launch ceremony for its 2025 Winter Operations Plan, which also marked the official deployment of Chinese-made live insulation coating robots.
To prepare for the challenges of the upcoming winter, Chilquinta Energía developed a comprehensive Winter Operations Plan for 2025, which includes nearly 970 preventive maintenance tasks. A highlight of the plan is the introduction of the Chinese-made live insulation coating robot — its first use in Latin America.
Chilquinta Energía operates in Chile’s Valparaíso Region, an area with dense vegetation and frequent conflicts between power lines and trees, where medium-voltage lines typically have a low insulation rate. The use of the robot, which offers both safety and cost-efficiency, is expected to significantly enhance the reliability of power supply in the region.
This deployment also reflects the continued efforts of State Grid to promote the global application of Chinese technologies.
