Kazakhstan’s Largest Single Wind Power Project Connected to Grid

The Khromtau 150 MW wind power project in Kazakhstan, constructed by Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), was successfully connected to the grid at full capacity on August 29.

The project in Kazakhstan’s Aktobe Region features 24 wind turbines, each with a record-breaking capacity of 6.25 megawatt, making it the largest single-unit capacity in the country. Despite facing several challenges, the team introduced an innovative management model that seamlessly integrates project development and execution.

Once operational, the project will generate approximately 509 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, saving 170,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 500,000 tons per year. This initiative will significantly ease local power shortages and contribute to Kazakhstan’s goals of carbon reduction, energy structure optimization, and environmental protection.
