Designed for a speed limit of 80 km/h, the route includes a bridge and tunnel ratio of 69.4 percent.
The Jianhe-Liping Expressway in Guizhou, funded and operated by China Railway Construction Kunlun Investment Group Co., Ltd, has officially opened to traffic.
The project was designed by the China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group and constructed by a consortium that included China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group and assorted bureaus of the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC).
Constructed as part of the CRCC’s “investment-design-construction-operation” model, the expressway is a full-chain project, with a total length of 74.754 kilometers. Designed for a speed limit of 80 km/h, the route includes a bridge and tunnel ratio of 69.4 percent.
The expressway traverses complex karst topography and a number of scenic areas, including key engineering challenges like the Nanzhai Creek Grand Bridge and Xiaoyaoguang Grand Bridge, making construction both difficult and environmentally demanding.
To address engineering hazards such as foundation subsidence from the karst terrain, CRCC teams adopted hydraulic climbing formwork technology, utilizing automated, continuous and rapid climbing templates to significantly enhance the safety of high-altitude operations and ensure stability in construction quality. Georadar and other technologies were employed for comprehensive geological detection and early warnings, enabling advanced support measures to ensure tunnel construction safety.
The Jianhe-Liping Expressway is critical to expanding Guizhou’s highway network. With its completion, the travel time between Jianhe and Liping has been shortened to around one hour, creating interconnections within the north-south highway network across the province.
The expressway holds great significance in establishing a golden tourism corridor in southeastern Guizhou, accelerating the integrated development of local resources, advancing rural revitalization, and promoting high-quality economic development in minority ethnic and revolutionary areas.
