Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), recently delivered its fifth 2.3-million-barrel universal Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, Jaguar, to Netherlands-based SBM Offshore.
The Jaguar is the 22nd vessel delivered by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding so far this year, meaning the shipbuilder has completed its whole-year delivery target six weeks ahead of schedule.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the company has handled a delivery total of 579 ships and offshore platforms, or more than 100 million deadweight tons (dwt).
Equipped with a multi-point mooring system, the Jaguar is designed to operate in diverse marine environments, including West Africa and South America, making it suitable for global oil and gas exploration projects.
Since delivering its first vessel in June, 2003, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has completed and delivered vessels at a rate of 27 ships, or 4.76 million dwt annually.
The company has achieved delivery of the first domestic batch of 180,000-ton Capesize bulk carriers and the successful construction of ultra-large crude carriers (ULCCs). It has built some groundbreaking projects such as a 300,000-ton FPSO, a sixth-generation deepwater semi-submersible drilling platform with a depth of 3,000 meters, ultra-large container ships, very large liquefied petroleum gas (VLPG) carriers, intelligent ultra-large ore carriers, and the 2.3-million-barrel universal FPSO.
In addition, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding delivered China’s first domestically built large cruise ship, the Adora Magic City, further solidifying its position as a leading company in marine engineering.
