Two new-generation Type 3 jack-up support platforms, designed and built by Wuhan Marine Machinery Plant Co., Ltd (WMMP), have been delivered to the Middle East for oilfield support services.
WMMP is a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) and the delivery demonstrates CSSC’s commitment to advancing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and fostering global economic cooperation.
The Type 3 platforms are multifunctional support vessels equipped for platform elevation, cargo lifting, self-propulsion and accommodation. They provide comprehensive support for oil extraction operations. The platforms feature high-standard living quarters at the bow, accommodating 150 crew members, with expandable facilities for up to 200 personnel. The quarters include a large dining area, gym, meeting rooms, prayer rooms and recreational facilities, satisfying the specific needs of crew members from various nationalities.
CSSC has built over 30 jack-up platforms to date, primarily for international clients. Most of the exported platforms operate in the Middle East, where CSSC has established a regional after-sales service center to ensure ongoing, high-quality support for its clients.
Under the BRI framework, CSSC is committed to increasing its presence in overseas markets, focusing on green, smart and high-end offshore engineering solutions.
