China Eastern Airlines has announced the launch of direct flights connecting the bustling metropolis of Shanghai in East China to Kazan in Russia, starting on Sept 28. The airline revealed this development on Tuesday, marking a significant step in enhancing air connectivity between the two cities.
Operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the Shanghai-Kazan flight will link the Shanghai Pudong International Airport with the Kazan International Airport. Kazan, the capital city of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, holds a special place as one of Russia’s three historical and cultural cities, alongside Moscow and St. Petersburg.
It serves as an important economic and cultural hub, as well as a key transportation center and a prominent tourism destination situated along the middle reaches of the Volga River.
The introduction of this direct flight service is expected to greatly reduce travel time between Shanghai and Kazan. Previously, the journey took over 15 hours, but with the new direct route, passengers can now traverse the distance in about 9.5 hours, according to China Eastern Airlines.
Tickets for these flights are now available for purchase through the official website of China Eastern Airlines and the airline’s mobile app, offering travelers convenient access to book their journeys between the two cities.
