Xinxing Cathay Supports Egypt’s Infrastructure and Livelihood Development

In the desert region of Sokhna Port in Suez Governorate, Egypt, around 120 kilometers from Cairo, a steel-structured factory is taking shape.

The site, a 250,000-ton ductile iron pipe project, is the first overseas production base of Xinxing Ductile Iron Pipes Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Xinxing Cathay International Group.

Four months into construction, civil works and steel structure installation for the ductile iron pipe factory and the machine shop have progressed smoothly. The 22-kilovolt switching station framework has been successfully erected, and foundation work for the smelting furnace and related equipment is advancing rapidly. Simultaneously, the development of office and auxiliary production facilities is moving forward steadily.

Ductile iron pipes are primarily used in water supply, drainage, hydropower and seawater desalination projects. Covering approximately 270,000 square meters, the project will feature a full-scale production line for centrifugal ductile iron pipes and related products. It will have the capacity to manufacture pipes with diameters ranging from 1200 mm to 2000 mm, filling a gap in Egypt’s domestic pipe supply market.

Once operational, the factory will produce 250,000 tons of ductile iron pipes annually, serving Egypt, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. The project is expected to generate nearly $200 million (1.41 billion yuan) in foreign exchange income for Egypt each year and create over 500 local jobs.

Scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2025, the factory will become a significant industrial hub for Egypt and the Middle East. It will significantly contribute to improving Egypt’s infrastructure and quality of life for citizens while advancing Sino-Egyptian economic cooperation and regional prosperity.
