China Railway Group Completes Major Kenyan Water Supply Project

The Nandi Hills Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Kenya, constructed by China Railway’s 10th Bureau Group, a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited, is now operational.

The project is one of Kenya’s six major water infrastructure initiatives. Located in Nandi county, it includes the construction of a new water treatment plant, three pump stations, four water storage tanks, 12.69 kilometers of water transmission pipelines and 25.5 kilometers of distribution networks. It also involved the rehabilitation of the existing Nandi Hills water treatment plant.

The project will supply clean water to over 70,000 local residents, significantly improving the water supply environment and contributing to Keny’s long-term goal of achieving full coverage for its water distribution network.

China Railway’s 10th Bureau Group has been a key participant in Kenya’s infrastructure development in recent years, executing several “small and beautiful” projects, including roads and water supply systems.

Kenya’s Ministry of Water Resources has praised the project as a model for Sino-African cooperation in water infrastructure. On the same day, China Railway’s  10th Bureau Group commenced construction on the Malava Water Supply Project, which is expected to provide piped water to 100,000 local residents upon completion.
