Two Vessels Successfully Launched by CSSC’s SWS Shipyard

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), has successfully launched its first 114,000 DWT Aframax product oil tanker and second 8,600-vehicle pure car and truck carrier (PCTC).

Both the 114,000 DWT Aframax tanker and the 8,600-vehicle PCTC are key products for SWS. The project teams developed precise production plans, fully implementing streamlined and batch production processes.

By effectively utilizing resources and adhering to tight schedules, the vessels were launched two days ahead of schedule with improved build quality.

The Aframax tanker set new construction benchmarks, completing all cargo tank sandblasting, specialized coating, and advancing key installations like the main engine and composite boiler to earlier stages.

All engine room piping was completed, with two-thirds of deck piping finished, and major equipment passed early testing phases.

The 8,600-vehicle PCTC showed marked improvements over its predecessor, achieving full structural connection 17 days after half-hull floating and completing major installations, including the stern door, ahead of schedule.

The vessel exited the dock with zero structural defects, while mechanical systems and commissioning tests were successfully completed.
