China Datang Boosts Green Energy Transition, Large-and-Medium Infrastructure Investment Soars 51.8% in Q1

Since the start of this year, China Datang Corporation has firmly focused on the primary task of high-quality development, continuously increasing investment in development and accelerating the transition to green energy. Its investment in large-and-medium-sized infrastructure projects surged by 51.8% year-on-year in the first quarter, hitting a new high for the same period in recent years, according to China Energy News.

The first quarter witnessed a string of good news from a number of major technological equipment projects of China Datang. In the Yuqu River Valley, the construction site of the Zhala Hydropower Station is bustling with activity. At present, 64% of the dam pouring has been completed, the lining of the diversion tunnel has exceeded 63%, and the installation of core components of the world’s first 500-megawatt impulse unit is progressing in an orderly manner. "We are racing against time to promote the project construction, ensuring that all tasks are completed as scheduled," said Li Wei, an engineer at the Zhala Hydropower Station construction site.

In Ningxia, a key project of the country’s first large-scale "computing-power and electricity coordination" green power supply project, the first wind turbine of the 1.5-megawatt wind power project in Zhongwei, Ningxia, was successfully hoisted. This milestone marks that the wind power project has fully entered a 100-day sprint period. Wang Hong, project manager of the Ningxia Zhongwei Wind Power Project, noted that the project is expected to provide stable green power for local computing centers after completion, realizing the integrated development of green energy and digital economy.

In terms of clean and efficient coal-fired power construction, Unit 2 of the 2×1 million-kilowatt capacity expansion and upgrading project of Datang Huayin Zhuzhou Power Generation Co., Ltd. successfully passed the 168-hour full-load trial operation at one time, with excellent technical indicators and stable performance. So far, both units of the project have been officially handed over for commercial operation, successfully completing the full-capacity commissioning goal.

The world’s first 630℃ ultra-supercritical double reheat national power demonstration project in Yuncheng, Shandong, developed by China Datang, has completed unit commissioning and is expected to enter the full-set start-up phase at the end of April, with Unit 1 to be put into operation in June. Meanwhile, the hoisting of the ultra-high pressure cylinder and deaerator for Units 5 and 6 of the Phase II million-kilowatt coal-fired power project of Jiangsu Lüsi Port Power Generation Co., Ltd. has been successfully completed.

In the field of new energy construction, the foundation excavation and cushion pouring of wind turbines for the 300,000-kilowatt wind power project in Sonid Left Banner of Datang Inner Mongolia Company have all been completed, as well as all civil engineering work. The construction of the 500,000-kilowatt photovoltaic project in Danba Badi, Garzê, Sichuan, is advancing steadily, with the access road fully connected and the booster station project officially started. The Xiangyang Photovoltaic Project of Huayin Leiyang Branch is also progressing smoothly, entering the full-scale construction phase and striving to achieve full-capacity grid connection in the first half of the year.

China Datang’s robust investment and project progress in the first quarter fully demonstrate its determination to accelerate the green energy transition and promote high-quality development. As a key enterprise in China’s energy sector, the group has been committed to optimizing its energy structure, promoting the coordinated development of traditional energy and new energy, and providing strong support for the country’s green and low-carbon development.
