Sichuan SASAC Convenes Meeting to Promote Employment Work of Local State-owned Enterprises in 2026

On April 23, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Sichuan Province (Sichuan SASAC) organized and held a promotion meeting on employment work of local state-owned enterprises (SOEs) across the province. The meeting earnestly implemented the relevant decisions and arrangements of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, mobilizing and deploying local SOEs in the province to do a good job in employment work in 2026.

Sichuan Daily reports that the meeting pointed out that local SOEs in Sichuan Province have resolutely fulfilled their political and social responsibilities, taken proactive actions and overcome difficulties, playing an important role in absorbing social employment, especially the employment of college graduates. The employment work has maintained a sound momentum of steady progress, providing strong support for serving the province's employment overall situation and demonstrating the responsibility of state-owned assets and SOEs.

The meeting emphasized that stabilizing employment is a bottom line of people's livelihood that must be firmly guarded. As important material and political foundations of socialism with Chinese characteristics, doing a good job in employment work is the most direct and specific embodiment of SOEs serving the overall work of the Party and the country, and a political task that must be completed.

Meanwhile, absorbing and cultivating college graduates is also an inherent need for SOEs to optimize their talent structure, accumulate development momentum and achieve high-quality development. The meeting required the state-owned assets and SOE system across the province to further raise their political stance, and deeply understand the urgency and importance of this work from a political perspective, so as to reserve more high-quality talents for the high-quality development of SOEs and the modernization drive of the province.

Sichuan Economic Net notes that local SOEs in Sichuan have long been important forces in stabilizing employment. In 2025, local SOEs in the province absorbed more than 120,000 college graduates, accounting for 18% of the total number of college graduates employed in the province that year, making positive contributions to easing the employment pressure of college graduates.

The meeting put forward clear requirements for all localities and enterprises. It stressed that all regions and enterprises must firmly establish the idea of "one game of chess" across the province, take the implementation of employment goals and tasks as a "responsibility certificate", and ensure that various deployment requirements are accurately implemented and achieve actual results.

Measures should be taken to stabilize and expand the recruitment scale, carry out high-quality on-the-job expansion and recruitment for front-line positions in SOEs, guide recruitment resources to tilt towards grass-roots and industrial front lines, and tap the potential of positions. More attention should be paid to optimizing the recruitment structure in light of the actual development of enterprises and the needs of industrial upgrading, so as to improve the professional adaptability between talents and enterprise positions.

Li Ming, director of the Employment Department of Sichuan SASAC, said in an interview that local SOEs in Sichuan will further strengthen their sense of responsibility and take more solid measures to do a good job in employment work. "We will guide enterprises to increase recruitment efforts, optimize talent introduction methods, and encourage college graduates to devote themselves to front-line work and achieve their life values," he added.

In addition, the meeting required increasing publicity and guidance, encouraging graduates to work at the front line to make achievements, strengthening the selection of typical examples and giving play to the demonstration and leading role, so as to contribute the strength of state-owned assets and SOEs to promoting high-quality employment and serving the overall economic and social development of the province.
