Interconnection Project Between Qingning and Jiangsu Coastal Natural Gas Pipelines Put into Operation
On May 15, the interconnection project between the Qingning (Qingdao-Nanjing) Natural Gas Pipeline of China National Pipe Network Group and the Jiangsu Coastal Natural Gas Pipeline was officially put into operation with gas intake. This project adds a new gas supply channel with an annual transmission capacity of 3 billion cubic meters to the Yangtze River Delta region, further enhancing the safety and resilience of regional natural gas supply.
Starting from Huai’an Delivery Station of the Qingning Pipeline and ending at Zhuqiao Delivery Interconnection Station of the Jiangsu Coastal Natural Gas Pipeline, the project has a designed pressure of 10 megapascals and a designed annual gas transmission capacity of 3 billion cubic meters. It accurately matches the transmission needs of the Jiangsu Coastal Natural Gas Pipeline and the peak-shaving injection and production regulation needs of the connected gas storage facilities, greatly improving the emergency supply resilience and safety guarantee capacity under extreme working conditions.

This is the third interconnection channel built after the "North Gas South Transportation" energy artery realized interconnection with the Jiangsu Coastal Pipeline. So far, three interconnection nodes have been formed between the national main natural gas pipeline network and Jiangsu’s provincial pipeline network, basically forming a deeply integrated pattern.
As the main provincial energy supply entity in Jiangsu Province, the Jiangsu Coastal Natural Gas Pipeline serves as a key hub connecting the national main pipeline network with the local market. The Qingning Pipeline, on the other hand, links the natural gas pipeline networks of North China and the Yangtze River Delta region, providing two-way mutual guarantee for onshore natural gas and offshore liquefied natural gas resources. Their key interconnection is of great significance for improving regional energy infrastructure.
As a key national natural gas interconnection project, the Qingning Pipeline has delivered a total of over 6.7 billion cubic meters of gas since its commissioning on December 15, 2020. At present, a multi-source complementary pattern of "North Gas South Transportation, Offshore Gas Landing and Gas Storage Peak Shaving" has been fully formed, significantly improving the efficiency of natural gas resource allocation and emergency supply capacity in eastern China.
In the Yangtze River Delta region, a new pattern of "interconnected pipelines" has been formed, including the West-East Gas Pipeline Phase I and II, Sichuan-East Gas Transmission Pipeline, Jiangsu-Anhui Pipeline and Qingning Pipeline. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China will also plan and build more than 3,200 kilometers of natural gas pipelines in the Yangtze River Delta and its surrounding areas, such as the Sichuan-East Gas Transmission Pipeline Phase II, Jiangsu-Anhui-Henan Pipeline and Wen 23-Anqing Pipeline. The successive completion and commissioning of these new trunk lines and interconnection projects will further increase the density and interconnection level of the natural gas pipeline network in the Yangtze River Delta and even the central and eastern regions, and inject stronger and cleaner green momentum into the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta regional integration.
