China secures bumper summer grain harvest with improved per-unit yields

According to the latest crop monitoring update released by China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on 17 July, more than 90 per cent of the national summer grain harvest has been completed across the country. Current agricultural assessments confirm stable planting areas and rising per-unit output for summer grain crops, with a full bumper harvest firmly guaranteed for the 2026 summer grain season.

Local agricultural authorities have rolled out targeted technical solutions to offset the impact of persistent autumn rainfall in the previous year. Adaptive sowing techniques for waterlogged farmland have been widely implemented across major grain-producing regions, ensuring full seeding coverage and consolidating solid foundations for summer grain production.

Major producing areas have adopted refined field management measures tailored to soil moisture and seedling growth conditions. Precision fertiliser and water regulation practices have boosted the growth of weak seedlings, while large-scale agricultural technical initiatives including integrated pest management and comprehensive crop protection have been fully deployed. Favourable temperature, sunlight and water conditions during the growing season have further optimised seedling development, effectively remedying the growth disadvantages caused by delayed sowing last year.

Wheat crops have registered a notable increase in ear numbers per mu, laying a solid foundation for higher overall yields. Dryland wheat planting covering over 70 million mu across key regions has achieved a substantial year-on-year improvement in per-unit output.

Standardised field management and large-scale technical promotion mechanisms will continue supporting stable grain production. Optimised agricultural cultivation models and refined crop protection measures will sustain yield growth potential for subsequent seasonal grain planting arrangements.
