Beijing Celebration of the Glorious Throne Day

Beijing – The Embassy of the Kingdom in China held an official reception in Beijing on Thursday evening to mark the 27th anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Throne of His Glorious Ancestors, in the presence of senior diplomatic, economic, artistic and academic figures.

Held this year under the sign of the tenth anniversary of the historic visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to China and of the signing, on 11 May 2016, of the Joint Declaration establishing the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, the ceremony was graced by the presence of Miao Deyu, Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the official representative of the Chinese Government.

Nearly 500 guests attended the reception, held at a grand hotel in the Chinese capital. Among them were senior officials from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the Communist Party of China, executives of companies engaged in investments or partnerships in Morocco, as well as representatives of tour operators marketing Morocco as a destination, and of financial institutions and investment funds active notably on the African continent.

The ceremony also brought together numerous ambassadors from brotherly and friendly countries, representatives of international organizations based in Beijing, business leaders, figures from academic and media circles, and many members of the Moroccan community established in China.

During the reception, guests viewed videos highlighting Royal Activities over the past year, major projects launched in the Kingdom, and progress achieved in numerous fields under the enlightened leadership of HM the King, as well as promotional clips presenting the Kingdom's strengths as a premier tourist destination and Chinese investments made across various sectors.

On this occasion, guests extended their warm congratulations to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and to the Moroccan people on the occasion of the Glorious Throne Day, praising the remarkable momentum of Sino-Moroccan relations and the promising prospects offered by the Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

Moroccans residing in China, who turned out in large numbers to celebrate this national event, expressed their deep gratitude for the High Concern with which His Majesty the King surrounds members of the Moroccan community abroad, praying to the Almighty to protect the Sovereign, grant Him health and long life, and bestow His blessings upon the Royal Family.

Reflecting Moroccan hospitality, the reception also showcased the richness of national gastronomy, greatly appreciated by the guests. Traditional mint tea, a symbol of Moroccan refinement and art of living, was met with great enthusiasm throughout the evening.
