New crude‑oil pipeline segment enters service to reinforce eastern China’s energy network
According to China Oil and Gas Pipeline Network Group, a key national oil‑and‑gas infrastructure project, the Lianyungang‑Huai’an section of the Lianyungang‑Yizheng crude‑oil pipeline has achieved successful commissioning on 13 August.
This marks the first million‑tonne‑class crude‑oil pipeline to go into operation at the outset of China’s 15th Five‑Year Plan period.
The new segment supports adjustments to energy supply structures across central and eastern China and strengthens the integrated national oil‑and‑gas pipeline network.

Once operational, this pipeline section links up with the already‑commissioned Rizhao‑Yizheng pipeline, delivering crude oil to Yizheng station, a major crude‑oil hub in eastern China. It can handle a maximum daily throughput of 70 000 tonnes.
It will supply refineries situated in Jiangsu Province and alongside the Yangtze River waterway, broadening multi‑channel supply capacity for energy consumers along the river corridor.
The infrastructure brings tangible improvements to pipeline layouts within the Yangtze River Delta and facilitates unified allocation of imported crude‑oil volumes. It opens up new transmission routes for inbound crude supplies reaching eastern industrial centres.
Further interconnection between trunk pipeline assets will keep enhancing the reliability of oil supply for downstream industrial facilities across the region.
