Since annual throughput first exceeded 100 million tonnes in 2011, the Three Gorges hub has maintained consistently high shipping volumes for 15 consecutive years. Between 2021 and 2025, yearly throughput surpassed 150 million tonnes for five successive years.

The waterway infrastructure underpins stable industrial and supply chains across the Yangtze River Economic Belt, secures the delivery of essential goods to riverside communities, and supports high-quality economic and social development throughout the Yangtze basin.

The integrated operation of the ship lock and ship lift continues to unlock the capacity of the Yangtze golden waterway. Scheduled navigation management will remain in place to accommodate ongoing freight and passenger flows for the rest of the year.
