Beihai Shipbuilding Hits 100‑vessel Order Milestone with Dominant Green‑ship Portfolio

Reported by CSSC sources, Beihai Shipbuilding has secured a backlog exceeding 23 million deadweight tonnes, crossing the historic threshold of 100 vessels. Delivery slots for several contracted units stretch as far ahead as 2030.

Green‑fuel vessels account for more than 80 per cent of this order book. The shipyard has built a fully‑covered, tiered portfolio of low‑emission ship designs, pursuing parallel development paths for LNG‑dual‑fuel, methanol‑dual‑fuel, ethanol‑dual‑fuel, ammonia‑dual‑fuel, and combined methanol‑ethanol tri‑fuel solutions.

A 210 000‑tonne ammonia‑dual‑fuel bulk carrier, independently developed within its research pipeline, is scheduled for hand‑over in 2026. This vessel will fill existing technical gaps for ships of this displacement class across global shipping markets. A new‑generation 325 000‑tonne methanol‑dual‑fuel very‑large ore‑carrier will embark on its maiden voyage by the end of the same year.

Ship‑owners worldwide keep placing firm contracts for alternative‑fuel tonnage as international maritime emissions rules tighten. Beihai Shipbuilding will press ahead with construction workflows for its extensive order portfolio, advancing outfitting, commissioning and sea‑trial arrangements for successive green‑fuel vessels. Further new‑build commitments may emerge as global carriers continue upgrading their fleets to meet decarbonisation requirements.
