China’s High-tech Sectors Draw Surging Foreign Investment in First Seven Months
According to China Central Television News Client, new official data released by China’s Ministry of Commerce outlines the country’s foreign investment performance across the first seven months of the year, highlighting steady expansion of foreign market presence and remarkable structural optimisation of inbound capital.
A total of over 37,000 new foreign-invested enterprises were established nationwide during the January-July period, marking a year-on-year increase of 4.4 per cent. The actual utilised foreign capital in China reached 438.33 billion yuan over the same timeframe.
High-tech industries have emerged as the core driver of inbound investment growth, recording robust capital inflows. The actual foreign capital utilised by China’s high-tech sectors hit 182.31 billion yuan, rising 32.7 per cent year on year. The sector now accounts for 41.6 per cent of the country’s total utilised foreign investment, representing a 12.2 percentage point increase from the same period last year.

Capital inflows maintain strong momentum in key high-tech segments. Research and design services, scientific and technological achievement transformation services, as well as the electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry have all sustained rapid growth in foreign capital utilisation, reflecting foreign investors’ growing confidence in China’s technological innovation and advanced manufacturing development potential.
Investment inflows from major overseas sources show prominent growth vitality. Saudi Arabia, France and South Korea have substantially boosted their investment layouts in China, with their actual inbound investment surging 343.7 per cent, 36.1 per cent and 15.8 per cent year on year respectively.
The continuous influx of high-quality foreign capital into high-tech fields will further empower the upgrading of China’s industrial structure. More overseas resources and technologies are set to converge in China’s innovation and manufacturing sectors, supporting the steady advancement of the country’s high-quality economic development.
