China Datang Boosts Green Transition, Infrastructure Investment Rises 18.76pc by End-August

According to Xinhua News Agency, China Datang Corporation has prioritised high-quality development and ramped up investment to accelerate its green energy transition. Its investment in large and medium-sized infrastructure projects grew by 18.76 per cent year on year up to 31 August.

In the Yuqu River Valley, the dam of Datang Zhala Hydropower Station has reached full concrete closure. The facility hosts the world’s first 500 MW high-head impulse hydropower unit, laying solid groundwork for reservoir impoundment and grid connection. A string of breakthroughs has been achieved this year across the group’s major technical equipment projects.

In the sector of clean and efficient coal power, the 630℃ national power demonstration project in Yuncheng, Shandong, has entered full-capacity operation. The plant achieves an equipment localisation rate of 98.89 per cent and breaks the 50 per cent thermal efficiency threshold for power generation, securing four world-leading benchmarks: highest efficiency, highest temperature, highest pressure and lowest coal consumption. 

Phase 2 of the 2×1,000 MW expansion at Lüsigang Power Plant in Jiangsu has completed key milestones including ignition and steam blowing for Unit 5 and turbine casing closure for Unit 6. Work now focuses on the full-system commissioning and grid connection of Unit 5. 

At Fuzhou Power Plant’s 2×1,000 MW expansion scheme in Jiangxi, the concrete pouring for the base of No.3 turbo-generator finished in a single continuous pour of 1,974 cubic metres, paving the way for subsequent assembly of the turbo-generator.

On new energy development, the first batch of turbines at the Juliang Mountain Wind Farm expansion project has been connected to the grid. This is China’s largest single-capacity plateau mountain wind project, marking fresh progress in the large-scale deployment of high-capacity wind turbines under cold, high-altitude conditions. 

Civil works for the 200 MW wind project in Sonid Left Banner, Inner Mongolia, are largely complete. Nine wind turbines have been hoisted, main transformers and other primary equipment installed, while work is ready to begin on secondary cabins and synchronous condenser units. 

At the 500 MW photovoltaic project in Badi, Danba, Garzê of Sichuan, contractors have set 115,559 foundation embedded parts, erected 6,058 sets of mounting brackets and fitted 4,118 photovoltaic modules. Construction of the booster station and transmission lines proceeds in parallel. 

The 147.4 MW second phase of the Shizhu wind-solar-storage integrated project in Chongqing has finished hoisting six wind turbines, with teams pressing ahead toward grid commissioning under favourable construction conditions.

China Datang will keep pushing forward hydropower, advanced coal power and renewable energy schemes, optimising construction schedules and asset deployment to strengthen the diversified clean power supply system.
