Main‑structure Topping‑out Completed at Songzhu Pumping Station of Beibu‑Gulf Rim Guangdong Water Allocation Project

According to the State‑owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Guangdong Province, the main building of Songzhu Pumping Station reached structural topping‑out on 27 September. Developed, constructed and operated by GDH Holdings, this facility is the first pumping station along the whole Beibu‑Gulf Rim Guangdong Water Allocation Project to finish its main‑structure construction, marking a major milestone for the infrastructure scheme.

The national backbone water‑network project stretches roughly 490 kilometres in total. Five booster pumping stations are distributed across its route, namely Dixin, Lianjiang, Mazhang, Songzhu and Longmen. It serves as a strategic livelihood‑focused infrastructure intended to reshape water resource distribution across western Guangdong and ease regional water shortages.

Located in Songzhu Town, Leizhou under Zhanjiang, Songzhu Pumping Station occupies a site of 64.5 mu. It is fitted with seven horizontal centrifugal pumps with an aggregate installed capacity of 22.05 megawatts. Its designed pumping head stands at 78 metres, and the maximum designed water conveyance flow hits 13 cubic metres per second. When operational, the pumping station will deliver pressurised Xijiang River water to the whole area south of Nandu River. It fills the long‑standing gap in local water transmission capacity and underpins regional rural revitalisation, industrial upgrading and ecological conservation work.

Up to the present date, total investment completed on the full‑length project has reached 23.8 billion yuan. Tunnel excavation has extended for 224 kilometres and pipeline construction has covered 200 kilometres. Once the whole water‑supply scheme is finished and put into service, it will connect 12 local reservoirs along the route and deliver water benefits to more than 18 million residents across Yunfu, Yangjiang, Maoming and Zhanjiang.
