Guangdong Salt Industry Group secures household food supply and strengthens food security safeguards
According to Guangdong Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, published 14 October 2026, 16 October is World Food Day, and the week containing this date is the National Food Security Publicity Week. Centred on livelihood security, Guangdong Salt Industry Group carries out work in marine ranch development, food safety outreach and food supply chain layout to stabilise household food supply and reinforce food security.
The group develops marine ranch projects to boost output from the blue economy. Guangdong Salt Industry Group pushes forward marine ranch construction to raise the efficiency of the “blue granary”. The group launched its first marine ranch joint venture project with Haid Group in May 2024, and the project entered large-scale breeding in December 2025. To date, total sales of farmed babylonia snails from the project have reached 137,500 jin, while total sales of farmed groupers have exceeded 133,800 jin. The stable production capacity supports the development of the regional blue granary.

Guangdong Salt Industry Group enforces strict food safety controls to protect food safety for consumers. Starting on 12 October, Guangyan Food Safety Cloud Merchant, an affiliate of the group, rolled out food security promotion and food safety inspection activities at Nanbu Market, Xuegong Market and other Yuyan Xiansheng venues in Qingyuan City. The campaign runs until 16 October. On-site teams conduct random sampling checks on salt, grain, edible oil, vegetables, fruits and other market goods. Staff distribute printed leaflets to market operators and local residents, sharing practical guidance on grain and oil selection and household grain storage.
The group expands its food supply chain to extend the reach of livelihood guarantee services. In June this year, Guangyan Food under Guangdong Salt Industry Group completed the acquisition of Guangzhou Yuanfeng Agricultural Ingredients Distribution Co., Ltd. The deal enables the group to enter the group catering ingredient supply chain via market-based operations. With Guangzhou as its core hub, the business covers the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and serves wider livelihood ingredient markets across South China. It builds a modern ingredient distribution network with wide coverage, high efficiency, consistent quality and comprehensive services to expand the scope of livelihood ingredient support.
Guangdong Salt Industry Group now serves more than 100 schools, enterprises and public institutions, covering over 100,000 end consumers. The group can deliver a stable daily supply of over 20,000 product varieties, including vegetables, meat, poultry, aquatic products, frozen goods, fruits, seafood, grain, edible oil, condiments and non-staple foods, providing sufficient, diversified and reliable ingredient supplies for clients.
Guangdong Salt Industry Group will continue to focus on food security and livelihood protection, advancing full-chain layout within the food industry. The group will uphold food safety standards and optimise services to meet public livelihood needs.
