China Energy Investment Corporation passes 1 trillion kWh of cumulative annual power generation
According to China Energy Investment Corporation, published 21 October 2026, the group’s cumulative annual power output hit 1 trillion kilowatt‑hours at 14:00 on 15 October. The milestone was reached five days earlier than in 2025, marking six consecutive years with annual generation above this threshold.
Several clean and high‑efficiency power units have entered operation this year, including Unit 5 at Dingzhou Power Plant, Unit 5 at Cangdong Power Plant and Unit 3 at Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station on the Dadu River. On 22 June, the grid connection of Unit 9 at Hainan Qiyuan offshore wind farm operated by Longyuan Power lifted the group’s total installed power capacity beyond 400 gigawatts, a new record for any global energy firm.

The group drew on its integrated coal, power, chemical and shipping operations to meet peak summer demand amid high temperatures, typhoons and heavy rainfall. It replenished coal stocks in advance, inspected key sites and coordinated reservoir flood control alongside power generation through weather alerts and emergency dispatch systems. Its maximum power load exceeded 197 gigawatts on 14 July, a historic high that made up more than one eighth of the national power load on that day.
The group has rolled out AI tools to support smart operation, developing and deploying high‑value use cases for the Qingyuan large language model. Applications span thermal power, new energy and hydropower workflows, with scaled deployment across 29 categories including power monitoring, data analysis and safety supervision. Replicable operational frameworks have been established from these deployments.
