Main Deck of Chizhou Yangtze River Rail-cum-Road Bridge Closed
According to China Railway Group Limited on 21 October 2026, the main bridge of the Chizhou Yangtze River Rail-cum-Road Bridge was closed on 15 October. The main works are largely finished, with subsequent construction to focus on ancillary structures and deck surfacing.

The crossing forms a key control structure for the Hefei–Chizhou Railway. It stretches 3,108.5 metres in total, while the river-spanning main section runs 1,768 metres. The structure takes the form of a triple-truss, triple-cable-plane double-deck steel truss cable-stayed bridge, built to accommodate highway, intercity rail and urban rail transit on the same river crossing.
Two spatial diamond-shaped reinforced concrete pylons support the span; the northern pylon stands at 282.7 metres and the southern pylon at 272.7 metres.
A total of 324 steel stays suspend the 1,768-metre double-deck steel truss, which has a main span of 812 metres and carries road vehicles, high-speed trains and intercity services 70 metres above the river surface.
Once opened, the bridge will complete an integrated transport corridor linking Hefei with southern Anhui via Chizhou. Road travel time between Hefei and Chizhou will fall to one and a half hours. The scheme adds to the layout of cross-river passages along the Wanjiang stretch and supports high-quality integrated development within the Yangtze River Delta.
