Three Gorges Reservoir completes 2026 water storage task

According to China Three Gorges Corporation, 30 October 2026, the Three Gorges Reservoir has reached the 175-metre storage level, marking the fifteenth time the reservoir has hit its full storage target since it first achieved the mark in 2010. The world’s largest clean energy corridor has finished its water storage programme for 2026.

During the storage operation, the corporation tracked rainfall and runoff across the river basin. In a period of below-average inflow from the upper Yangtze, it balanced power supply security and annual storage requirements, carrying out hydrological forecasting, precise scheduling and routine maintenance of the infrastructure.

All dams, power stations, navigation structures and associated facilities remain in stable operation. The usable water volume of the clean energy corridor stands at 40.71 billion cubic metres. The stored water supports power delivery for receiving regions through the coming winter and spring, alongside water supply, shipping and ecological needs along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
