EVS Mobility Expo Morocco 2026: The Kingdom of Morocco at the Heart of Sino-Moroccan Cooperation in Electric Mobility

The Kingdom of Morocco strengthened its position as an emerging industrial hub for electric mobility in Africa, as the second edition of Africa EV Mobility Expo Morocco 2026 brought international manufacturers, investors and industry professionals to Casablanca from October 27 to 29. The event highlighted Morocco’s automotive capabilities and its ambitions in the development of the electric mobility industry.

Organized by MIE Events and GEX in partnership with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME), the exhibition brought together companies and industry stakeholders from several countries. According to the organizers, it featured more than 200 exhibitors, over 500 products and participants from more than 15 countries, while the programme set targets of 15,000 visitors and 1,000 business-to-business meetings. The event provided a platform for manufacturers, suppliers and investors to explore commercial and industrial partnerships in a rapidly evolving sector.

China’s participation gave the exhibition particular significance for bilateral economic relations. Chinese companies, which played a major role in the electric vehicle, battery and charging technology industries, were represented by brands including YADEA, AIMA and TAILG. The programme also included a China–Morocco roundtable dedicated to electric mobility, which provided a framework for discussing investment prospects, industrial cooperation and the development of supply chains. These exchanges reflected the potential for expanding economic ties beyond commercial transactions towards more diversified industrial partnerships.

Morocco’s attractiveness in this sector was supported by an established automotive ecosystem. The industry had become the country’s leading export sector, bringing together vehicle manufacturers, equipment suppliers and numerous industrial operators. According to the Casablanca-Settat Regional Investment Centre, automotive exports exceeded approximately USD 16 billion in 2024, while the sector supported around 220,000 jobs. This industrial experience, combined with developed infrastructure and access to international markets, provided a solid foundation for integrating electric mobility into the national manufacturing base.

This development was particularly evident in Kenitra (an important Moroccan industrial city), notably through the Atlantic Free Zone (an industrial zone specializing in automotive manufacturing and related industries). The area had attracted manufacturers and suppliers and had played an important role in Morocco’s automotive expansion. During the exhibition, a session entitled “Kenitra to the World: Inside Africa’s First Gigafactory” placed battery manufacturing at the centre of discussions on the country’s electric mobility ambitions. The development of this activity was identified as a potential source of opportunities in component manufacturing, engineering, logistics and other related services.

For Chinese investors, Morocco presented prospects across several segments of the electric mobility industry, including automotive components, battery production, charging infrastructure and power electronics. Partnerships with local companies were also identified as a means of developing domestic suppliers and strengthening industrial expertise. Furthermore, the Kingdom’s geographical position and trade connections with African and European markets offered an additional advantage to companies seeking to expand their international operations.

EVS Mobility Expo Morocco 2026 provided an opportunity to showcase the Kingdom’s industrial capabilities and explore new avenues for international cooperation. The discussions highlighted Morocco’s efforts to build on its established automotive industry and attract investment into emerging technologies, with the objective of consolidating its role in the global transition towards electric mobility. For Chinese companies, the exhibition offered an opportunity to assess the country’s industrial potential and identify prospects for long-term cooperation in investment, technology and manufacturing.
