CCITS Launches "Sci-Tech Innovation China" Activities in Guangdong, Hebei

Since 2025, under the guidance of the Department of Science and Technology Innovation of the China Association for Science and Technology, the China Certification and Inspection Society (CCITS) has successively carried out a series of "Sci-Tech Innovation China" activities in Guangdong and Hebei provinces, according to a report from China Science Daily.

A research team from CCITS for the "Sci-Tech Innovation China" initiative has conducted field investigations in the two provinces. In Guangdong, the expert group visited Yuejiang Technology, Jiateng Robotics and Zhongke Cloud Computing Research Institute, exchanging views on AI visual inspection, the application of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) in special environments and other topics. They sorted out bottleneck issues including the lack of AI standards, difficulties in perception and positioning in complex environments, and low detection accuracy for ceramic wine bottles.

In Hebei, focusing on the iron and steel industry, the research team went deep into the Provincial Computing Power Industry Technology Research Institute and worked with key enterprises to clarify five key issues in inclusion detection, such as equipment optimization, component determination and the effectiveness of alternative methods, laying a foundation for subsequent research and development.

Based on the practical problems identified in the investigations, CCITS has actively promoted the construction of industry-university-research collaboration platforms. In Guangdong, it signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Guangdong Association for Science and Technology, promoting the establishment of the "Guangdong Inspection and Testing Collaborative Innovation Center" and setting up a science and technology service station in Foshan. This forms a service pattern of "one center and multiple nodes", providing one-stop services such as testing and verification, standard output and talent training in conjunction with local laboratories and leading enterprises.

In Hebei, CCITS has jointly built an intelligent detection innovation and empowerment system for the iron and steel industry with Tsinghua University, Shougang Group, Guobiao Testing and other institutions, promoting the efficient linkage of equipment, data and models to provide strong support for high-end material research and development and quality control.

In terms of promoting industrial standard construction, CCITS has taken the lead in formulating group standards for AI quality inspection in Guangdong and launched the development of group standards related to AMR/AGV, solving the problems of inconsistent AI detection results and lack of standards in emerging fields. In Hebei, it has focused on intelligent detection of iron and steel inclusions and simultaneously started the development of core group standards to improve the comparability and authority of detection results. A guide to solving industrial and technological problems has also been compiled for the common technical bottlenecks found in the investigations.

Relying on the "Sci-Tech Innovation China" platform, CCITS has held special training sessions in both regions to empower the growth of technical talents. In January 2026, in conjunction with the Guangdong Provincial and Municipal Associations for Science and Technology, it held two intelligent manufacturing training sessions in Foshan and Dongguan, focusing on standardization practices and AI defect detection, attracting nearly 100 technical and standardization management personnel from enterprises.

In March 2026, a "Training on the Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in the Iron and Steel Industry" was held in Langfang, Hebei. Experts from Tsinghua University and Shougang Group were invited to teach on the coordination between standard systems and AI, and the application of image recognition in the metallurgical industry, helping improve the capabilities of talents in universities, iron and steel enterprises and scientific research institutes.

From precise investigation to platform construction, from standard leadership to talent empowerment, the series of "Sci-Tech Innovation China" activities in Guangdong and Hebei by CCITS have not only effectively solved the technical bottlenecks of local industries, but also explored a new path of scientific and technological services featuring "demand-driven, mechanism-first, standard-led and platform-supported".
