Jiaxing Port’s First Direct Shipment of Large-Scale Wind Power Bases to Europe
Two batches of extra-large wind power bases, with a total weight exceeding 600 tonnes, set sail from Jiaxing Port in Zhejiang Province for Rotterdam Port in the Netherlands aboard the vessel “Xinhaitong 502” on April 4, according to Xinhua News Agency. The equipment will be used for local offshore wind power project construction, marking the first time Jiaxing Port has directly shipped heavy-lift equipment to Europe and further improving the logistics network for green energy equipment exports in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The wind power bases shipped this time are characterized by large volume, heavy weight and high difficulty in lashing and securing. To ensure smooth transportation, the “ship-to-ship transshipment” operation mode, which is highly challenging, was adopted, placing strict requirements on navigation safety, ship stability and lashing and securing standards, as noted by the relevant person in charge of Jiaxing Maritime Safety Administration.
“This transportation imposes extremely high standards on ship stability and lashing. We connected with the enterprise half a month in advance, repeatedly calculated technical data and refined the guarantee plan to ensure every lashing point can withstand the test of marine storms,” said Chen Lijun, Deputy Director of Jiaxing Maritime Safety Administration. In accordance with the Rules for the Supervision of Ship Safety issued by the Ministry of Transport, the maritime department, together with port authorities and other units, set up a professional guarantee team to conduct multiple rounds of demonstration and optimization on key links such as equipment transshipment, lashing and securing, and hull stress.

Jiaxing Port, an important node in the Yangtze River Delta port group, is accelerating the construction of the largest breakbulk transshipment base in northern Zhejiang. The smooth direct shipment of wind power equipment to Europe not only reflects the leap in the port’s service capacity but also provides strong support for new energy equipment from Zhejiang and even the entire Yangtze River Delta region to participate in international green energy construction.
As Europe vigorously advances its green energy transition and strives to increase the proportion of renewable energy in final consumption, Chinese new energy equipment has become an indispensable partner in this process, industry experts said. The shipment from Jiaxing Port is a vivid practice of China’s positive participation in global green energy cooperation, delivering high-quality equipment to help Europe achieve its carbon reduction goals.
Wu Haibo, General Manager of Jiaxing Port Group, emphasized that the successful shipment has opened a stable and efficient oceanic channel for the export of green energy equipment in the region. “We will continue to optimize our service capabilities, improve the logistics system for heavy-lift equipment exports, and provide more convenient and reliable support for Chinese new energy equipment to go global,” he added.
