Guangdong Intelligent Manufacturing Shines at 139th Canton Fair with Booming Orders and AI Innovations

From voice-controlled smart home appliances to sought-after low-altitude aircraft, Guangdong’s intelligent manufacturing has been making waves at the 139th China Import and Export Fair, widely known as the Canton Fair, held in Guangzhou. The event, which kicked off on April 15, has attracted a record number of over 32,000 participating enterprises, with nine new specialized sections including consumer drones and smart wearables, according to People’s Daily Online.

In the smart home appliance exhibition area, an AI-enabled induction cooker responds promptly to the voice command “Xiaode Xiaode, turn on the induction cooker and set it to maximum power” to complete cooking tasks effortlessly. Developed by Shantou High-tech Zone Dexin Industrial Co., Ltd., the cooker is equipped with a multimodal large model, supporting seamless switching between Chinese, English and Cantonese, said Zhou Peng, the company’s marketing manager.

“Most buyers visiting our booth are drawn to this product,” Zhou noted, adding that the company plans to extend the AI induction cooker technology to its entire range of kitchen appliances and promote them globally, transforming home appliances from “passive tools” to “intelligent agents” capable of active service.

Low-altitude economy products have also gained remarkable popularity. Guangzhou-based Yesheng Aviation achieved impressive results, securing 1.8 million US dollars in intentional orders for 180 aircraft within two days of the fair’s opening. “On the first day of the Canton Fair, Yesheng Aviation signed numerous intentional orders, too many to fit into a nine-grid post on social media,” Wu Aobing, the company’s managing director, proudly told reporters.

Wu attributed the product’s popularity to three core advantages: 100% original design, cost and delivery efficiency as a local source factory in Guangzhou, and strong price competitiveness. The Canton Fair has set up a dedicated zone for agricultural and consumer-grade drones for the first time, showcasing the rapid development of China’s low-altitude industry, according to China Daily.

Other Guangzhou enterprises also reaped fruitful results. Lingdu Intelligent, another local firm, received tens of thousands of intentional orders for its new household window cleaner “Little Flying Man” on the opening day. Ye Zhipeng, the company’s marketing director, recalled that a Middle Eastern buyer, who came specifically to find high-quality innovative products, showed great interest in the cleaner, noting its suitability for the Middle Eastern market where such products are scarce.

Beyond home appliances and low-altitude aircraft, AI technology is also empowering the education sector. Guangzhou-based CVTE focused on displaying its MAXHUB artificial intelligence education and conference solutions for overseas markets, including the multilingual AI software MAXHUB EasiClass that supports 13 languages such as English, Japanese and Thai.

Guangdong’s intelligent manufacturing also demonstrates strong supply chain resilience through in-depth integration of globalization and localization. Midea Group has shifted from the “China supplying the world” export model to a dual-cycle model of “China supplying the world + regions supplying regions,” establishing manufacturing bases in Brazil, Mexico, Thailand and other countries, a company representative said.

Wanbao Refrigerator, affiliated to Guangzhou Industrial Control Group, launched 41 products at the fair, including customized models tailored to different regional markets. “We provide differentiated solutions and products to match local consumers’ preferences,” said Kuang Meiai, the company’s North American regional manager, adding that the firm achieved steady growth in overseas markets in the first quarter.

With manufacturing as the backbone and service industry as the enabler, the coordinated development of the two industries has driven Guangdong’s manufacturing to gain popularity globally, vividly demonstrating the strong vitality of China’s intelligent manufacturing at this year’s Canton Fair.
