Sichuan Conducts Special Survey on Leading Pig Enterprises to Boost High-Quality Industry Development

To grasp the production and operation status of leading pig enterprises in Sichuan Province, explore the establishment of a special survey mechanism for their cost and benefit, and support the high-quality development of the pig industry, the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Cost Investigation and Supervision carried out a special survey from mid-March to early April 2026, according to Sichuan Daily.

The survey covered several leading pig enterprises, including New Hope Liuhe, Dekang Group and Southwest Wen’s, adopting forms such as forum exchanges and on-site visits to conduct in-depth communications on issues including the optimization of pig production capacity, industrial chain layout, smart breeding and cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Investigators also learned about the transmission impact of rising feed raw material prices on pig breeding and the difficulties encountered by enterprises in production and operation. According to the National Bureau of Statistics Sichuan Survey Team, feed costs account for about 60% of the total pig breeding costs, and the recent moderate increase in corn and soybean prices has brought certain pressure to breeding enterprises.

Focusing on the establishment of a special cost-benefit survey mechanism for leading pig enterprises, the investigation team explained specific matters such as the survey purpose, scope and indicator setting, and solicited the enterprises’ participation intentions, actual needs and suggestions.

“This survey is very timely and practical, as it helps relevant departments accurately grasp the actual situation of the industry and provides targeted policy support for enterprises to overcome difficulties,” said Li Ming, a senior manager of New Hope Liuhe’s Sichuan branch, adding that the enterprise is willing to actively cooperate with the survey work.

Dekang Group, another leading enterprise, also expressed its support. “We have put forward suggestions on optimizing the survey indicators to better reflect the characteristics of smart breeding and industrial chain integration,” said Zhang Wei, the group’s production director.

Taking this special survey as an opportunity, Sichuan Province will steadily promote the special cost-benefit survey of leading pig enterprises, strengthen data analysis, and timely reflect the operation of the pig industry. This will provide high-quality data support for pig market regulation, stable industrial development and people’s livelihood supply guarantee.

As an important pig-raising province in China, Sichuan has been committed to promoting the high-quality development of the pig industry in recent years, and the establishment of the special survey mechanism will further improve the scientificity and pertinence of industrial regulation, according to the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Cost Investigation and Supervision.
