Huaihe Energy Group Accelerates Major Energy Projects in 2026, the First Year of the 15th Five-Year Plan

The 2026 Government Work Report has emphasized the strategic position of energy security from the perspective of the 15th Five-Year Plan and proposed for the first time the formulation of an outline for building an energy power. Guided by the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, it promotes the coordinated advancement of carbon reduction, pollution control, green expansion and growth to enhance the momentum of green development.

A relevant person in charge of the Strategic Investment Department of Huaihe Energy Group stated that the group would seize opportunities to fully promote the construction of major projects in coal, coal-fired power and clean energy. With project construction as the driving force, it will accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading, pursue green development and improve quality and efficiency, striving to achieve a successful start to the 15th Five-Year Plan.

Inside the construction site of the East Wing Gangue Belt Conveyor Incline, a key line of the safety reconstruction and second-level extension project of Dingji Coal Mine under Huaihe-Huadian Coal Power Company, mine lamps flickered and construction workers were busy, focusing on quality and progress to push forward the project. This is a microcosm of the group’s overall planning for the future development of coal mines and solid promotion of the second-level project construction of local coal mines.

Since the start of the year, all units in charge of major projects of Huaihe Energy Group have earnestly implemented the requirements of the enterprise’s "First Spring Meeting", starting a new journey of major project construction with a positive attitude. All 18 under-construction projects among the key scheduled projects this year have started. To promote the early landing, start-up and effect of major projects, the group has taken the monthly scheduling mechanism for major project construction as the guide, focused on the "four controls" of safety, quality, progress and investment, and made every effort to advance the start-up and construction of key projects, laying a solid foundation for achieving a "good start" in the first quarter.

The second-level projects of local coal mines are crucial for the long-term development of local coal mining. Since the beginning of the year, Huaihe Energy Group has efficiently promoted the construction of second-level projects for 6 coal mines including Dingji Coal Mine. Each project unit has clarified the construction plan and closely followed the construction schedule, with a total safe footage of more than 2,200 meters accumulated since the start of the year. In addition, among the 3 newly approved coal mine projects, the Suburgai Project has completed on-site environmental impact assessment and technical evaluation and is going through the review process; both the Shitoumei No.2 Mine and Tiaohu No.7 Mine projects have obtained mining rights certificates and mining licenses.

The construction sites of power and new energy projects are also in full swing.

At the construction site of Luohe Power Plant Phase IV, the group’s first 1 million-kilowatt-class coal-fired power project under holding, huge cranes rotated flexibly in the air, and construction workers wearing safety helmets shuttled between various construction areas. It is reported that the main workshop of Luohe Power Plant Phase IV has been delivered for installation; Unit 7 of the holding Pingwei Power Plant Phase IV project has successfully passed the 168-hour trial operation; the 2×660MW ultra-supercritical double reheat coal-fired units of Xieqiao Power Plant have been fully put into operation. The orderly completion and commissioning of these projects will effectively promote the group’s coal-fired power industry to become stronger and larger.

Efforts are also being made to promote the group’s green and low-carbon transformation. Recently, with the accelerated construction progress of the Wuhu Natural Gas Peak Shaving Power Plant project, the steel keels of some main workshops have emerged from the ground. To ensure the safe and efficient progress of the project, Huaihe Energy Group has strengthened project regulation, maintaining the same construction rhythm, momentum and standards since the start of the year. At present, the raft foundation of No.1 and No.2 gas turbine islands, the foundation of waste heat boiler, chimney and short column concrete pouring have been completed, and the follow-up projects are being pushed forward with all efforts.
