Hubei Aerospace Information Industry Base Unveiled, Paving Way for Cluster Development

According to Changjiang Daily, the Hubei Aerospace Information Industry Base was officially unveiled in Wuhan on April 9th. Built on the foundation of Hubei Luojia Laboratory, this industrial carrier hosts three global headquarters—the “Oriental Insight” Constellation, Beidou Intelligent Navigation and Positioning, and Open Earth Engine. It promotes in-depth integration of government, industry, academia, research, finance, application and service, marking that Hubei’s aerospace information industry has bid farewell to scattered development and entered a new stage of clustering, scaling and systematization.

As a strategic emerging industry integrating cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing, the aerospace information industry is a key grasp to drive the upgrading of high-end manufacturing and seize the commanding height of the digital intelligence economy. For Hubei, developing this industry requires not only consolidating the foundation of innovation but also optimizing the industrial chain layout.

Hubei has built a complete industrial map around “satellites, chips, terminals, networks, data (maps) and applications”, taking the “chain leader + chain main body + chain innovation” mechanism as the starting point to promote key technological research, achievement transformation and market entity cultivation. According to China News Network, Hubei’s total Beidou industry revenue exceeded 100 billion yuan in 2025, with both volume and growth rate ranking among the top in China.

This achievement stems from Hubei’s transformation from “single-point breakthrough” to “full-chain coordination”. Wuhan University has solved the problem of satellite-ground integrated centimeter-level real-time positioning, while enterprises including FiberHome Communications have jointly broken through “bottleneck” technologies such as inter-satellite laser communication. Wuchang Douzhuan Science and Technology Park has gathered more than 100 enterprises in the industrial chain, forming a strong innovative synergy.

Technology gains real value only when integrated into daily life and industrial frontlines. Hubei has always insisted on opening up application scenarios to let “stars in the sky” shine into people’s daily lives. Wuhan uses satellite remote sensing data to support natural resource monitoring and river basin management, Xiangyang’s Internet of Vehicles pilot zone makes public transport smarter, and Yichang has built a Beidou intelligent allocation platform in the blood field to improve service efficiency.

At present, the number of Beidou terminals applied in key industries in the province exceeds 900,000, with full domestic substitution rate. Drone delivery and driverless agricultural machinery have become a reality, reflecting the transformation of the city’s development logic. The government no longer relies solely on policy and capital support, but focuses on providing opportunities and building platforms for enterprises to test technologies and iterate products in practice.

As an intelligence-intensive industry, the core of aerospace information industry competition lies in talents. Hubei boasts abundant scientific and educational resources including Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, supported by 93 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering. Relying on the province’s “Ten-Hundred-Thousand” Talent Strategy and Wuhan’s “Four Major Talent Attraction Projects”, Hubei has established mechanisms such as “calling for bids to tackle key problems” and “scientific and technological innovation deputy general managers”.

With targeted support from academician funds, early-stage investment in small projects and one-stop services provided by the “Chucai Card”, a series of measures have broken barriers to talent development. Xu Ding, brand director of Wuhan Yixun Beidou Space-Time Technology Co., Ltd., said, “Beidou high-precision modules have become the standard in fields such as cultivated land protection, improving accuracy to centimeter or decimeter level.”

With the official unveiling of the industrial base and the coordinated efforts of the innovation, application and talent chains, Hubei is promoting the transformation and upgrading of the aerospace information industry. By consolidating the innovation foundation, empowering through scenarios and gathering intellectual strength, Hubei is stepping closer to its “space dream” and shining more brightly on the path of high-quality development.
