Harbin Electric Group Secures Strong Start in 2026, Fueling High-Quality Energy Development

2026 marks the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, and the first quarter serves as a crucial starting period to seize development opportunities and lay a solid foundation for the whole year. All enterprises under Harbin Electric Group (HE Group) have focused on their core businesses, boosting production, expanding markets and strengthening innovation, successfully achieving a strong start and laying a solid foundation for high-quality development throughout the year with impressive results.

People’s Daily reports that HE Group’s Electric Machinery Company has successfully developed the world’s largest hydropower relief valve, with a nominal diameter of 3.5 meters and multiple core technologies reaching international leading levels. This achievement underscores the group’s strong R&D capability in the energy equipment sector.

HE Group’s Boiler Company has won major projects consecutively, including the molten salt heat release island project of Guodian Langfang and two 1000MW coal-fired boiler projects in Gansu Badain Jaran Desert and Shanxi Shanyin. These projects will enhance regional power supply and new energy consumption capacity, injecting new momentum into the "dual carbon" strategy.

HE Group’s Steam Turbine Company has been listed among the top 100 national 5G factories, passing the CMMM Level 4 certification for smart manufacturing. It launched China’s first domestically developed 16MW gas turbine and put into operation the world’s largest compressed air energy storage project in Huai’an, Jiangsu, as well as the most efficient 2×9H-class gas turbine project in Anji, Zhejiang.

In the first quarter, HE Group’s Electric Machinery Company achieved a 26.81% year-on-year increase in formal contract signing volume and a 39.28% rise in product output. It won bids for multiple pumped storage and steam turbine generator units and its 800-meter-class pumped storage unit technology reached international leading levels. Its Zhenjiang branch was awarded the "Type I Five-Star Zero-Carbon Factory" title.

Xinhua News Agency reports that HE Group’s International Company has made key progress in "Belt and Road" projects. The 2nd gas turbine of the 1600MW Syr Darya Phase II combined cycle power station in Uzbekistan, the largest under construction in Central Asia, was connected to the grid successfully. In Saudi Arabia, the first hoisting of waste heat boiler steel structures for Naraya 2 and Ruma 2 projects was completed smoothly.

Other subsidiaries also delivered outstanding performances. Jiadian Co., Ltd. set a record high with over 11,000 motors scheduled in March, totaling 1.2 million kilowatts. Heavy Equipment Company’s operating income and total profit increased by 4.7% and 23.2% year-on-year respectively. Valve Company won bids for supporting valves of Huaneng Yuhuan Phase IV, the world’s first 650℃ ultra-supercritical coal-fired unit.

Global Times notes that Huaneng Yuhuan Phase IV project, with the world’s highest steam parameters, will significantly reduce coal consumption and carbon emissions. HE Group’s efforts in the first quarter not only achieved a strong start but also demonstrated its responsibility as a central enterprise in supporting national energy security and green development.
