China Launches National Dataset Management Service Platform, Entering Intensive Management Stage

Recently, the National Dataset Management Service Platform has been officially released and put into trial operation, marking that China’s high-quality dataset construction has entered a new stage of intensive management, according to the National Data Administration.

Guided by the National Data Administration and constructed and operated by the National Institute of Data Development, the platform builds a "physically decentralized but logically centralized" dataset management system based on the aggregation of dataset catalogs. It provides public service capabilities covering the entire life cycle of datasets, further promoting the effective supply of high-quality datasets and boosting the industrial ecology.

Xinhua News Agency reports that the platform was officially launched at the Digital China Construction Summit on April 29, 2026, with an accessible address of https://www.ndsms.cn. It serves three core user groups: data management departments, dataset suppliers and dataset demanders, providing targeted functions to improve management efficiency, empower high-quality dataset construction and accelerate dataset circulation and utilization.

At present, the platform has opened basic functions such as supply and demand release, global retrieval and certificate application. It has also completed docking with the national data infrastructure and local platforms including that of Anhui Province. By the day of its release, more than 200 supply and demand entities have been certified on the platform, with over 1,000 datasets published.

China Communist Party News Network notes that the platform’s trial operation is a key step in advancing China’s digital development strategy. Moving forward, the National Data Administration will guide the National Institute of Data Development to continuously optimize the platform’s functions and service quality, improve capabilities in construction monitoring, quality management and rights incentives, and deepen docking and linkage with local and industry-related platforms.

The continuous improvement of the platform will better meet the diversified needs of various entities, support the construction of high-quality datasets across the country, and empower the innovative development of artificial intelligence, laying a solid foundation for China’s digital transformation and high-quality development.
