Guangxi and Macao Forge Esports and Cultural Tourism Partnership in 2026

A promotional event titled Smart Travel in Guangxi, A Wellness Destination – 2026 Guangxi (Macao) Promotion was recently held in Macao, organised to boost cultural and tourism exchanges between Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Macao.

During the event, Guangxi and Macao signed the Guangxi–Macao Esports + Cultural Tourism Development Cooperation Agreement, marking a joint effort to deepen esports cultural exchanges and advance the integrated development of esports with culture, tourism and sports.

Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in several key areas: developing signature esports tournaments in Guangxi, building a comprehensive esports industrial ecosystem, strengthening esports cultural exchanges between Guangxi, Macao and ASEAN countries, and driving the integrated growth of “esports + cultural tourism + sports”. 

They will work together to explore a distinctive development pathway for the esports industry that fits Guangxi’s strengths.

With the creation of proprietary esports tournament IP at the core, the partnership will further integrate esports with cultural tourism and sports sectors. 

It will expand regional cooperation to cover ASEAN markets, support Guangxi in building a digital sports industrial ecosystem, and help raise the standard of regional digital economy and cultural tourism development.
