Museum Visitor Numbers Hit a Record High During Spring Festival, with a Strong Cultural Festive Atmosphere
It was learned from the National Cultural Heritage Administration on March 5 that museums across China received 89.5112 million visitors during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, a year-on-year increase of 27.6% and a record high. Among them, provinces including Shaanxi, Jiangsu and Guangdong each received over 6 million visitors, and 65 national archaeological site parks welcomed 5.0743 million visitors.

As an important traditional festival of the Chinese nation, visiting museums has become a must for the public during the Spring Festival holiday. During the holiday, museums nationwide launched more than 12,000 special exhibitions and over 29,000 social education activities, with major museums rolling out themed exhibitions and featured events to enrich visitors' experience.
Museums such as the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum and Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum held Spring Festival-themed exhibitions to convey folk customs and best wishes; Liaoning Provincial Museum and Inner Mongolia Museum offered intangible cultural heritage markets and immersive guided tours, allowing visitors to experience the charm of traditional culture through interaction and adding cultural connotation to the Spring Festival atmosphere.
