Sichuan’s Bashan Canyon Boosts Cross-regional Tourism Cooperation via Xi’an Promotion Event
According to China News Service, a cultural tourism promotion conference and partnership signing ceremony for Sichuan’s Bashan Canyon Scenic Area was held in Xi’an on May 27, 2026. The event gathered tourism associations, industry distributors and media representatives from Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces, building a new platform for cross-regional resource sharing and tourist market expansion.
The opening ceremony featured traditional Bashan stick dance performances, showcasing authentic local folk customs and creating a warm atmosphere for industry exchanges. The event launches upgraded 2026 preferential incentive policies designed to attract more tourists from outside Sichuan. The new policies offer tangible benefits to tourism distributors and support market cooperation, laying a solid foundation for win-win development between regional tourism sectors.

Authorised partnership agreements and official licensing were granted to multiple travel agencies based in Xi’an during the event. The cooperation mechanism will advance joint tourism product development, cross-regional passenger flow interaction and mutual brand promotion between the two regions.
Located in Dazhou city of Sichuan province, Bashan Canyon Scenic Area boasts diverse natural landscapes including grand canyon corridors, mysterious karst caves and alpine sea of clouds. It integrates thousand-year-old Ba culture and rich Tujia ethnic customs, forming distinctive seasonal tourism resources. The scenic area delivers varied sightseeing experiences across four seasons, with mountain blossoms in spring, drifting adventures in summer, red foliage scenery in autumn and snow views in winter.
Equipped with comprehensive tourism facilities, the site features high-altitude glass bridges, live cultural performances and wellness homestays to satisfy diverse leisure demands. As a national 4A-level tourist attraction and a provincial demonstration benchmark for cultural and tourism integration, the scenic area is pressing ahead with the creation of national 5A-level tourist attraction status. It has become a preferred summer resort and wellness destination for tourists from northwest China.
Cross-regional tourism linkage between Sichuan and Shaanxi will continue to deepen. The scenic area will further optimise tourism products and supportive incentive policies, expanding cross-regional tourism cooperation channels and enriching high-quality travel options for tourists across different regions.
