Shenfeng Peak: Heilongjiang’s Easternmost Summit Rises as Ecotourism Landmark

Heilongjiang’s Shenfeng Peak, the main summit of the Wanda Mountains and a provincial forest park, stands at 834.1 metres above sea level, recognised as “the Easternmost Peak of China”. Its unique geographic location and pristine natural resources have established it as a defining ecotourism landmark along Heilongjiang’s eastern border, with the cultural slogan “Travel to Dongfanghong to greet the sunrise” gaining widespread recognition.

According to Heilongjiang Daily, the recently revitalised Shenfeng Peak has become a benchmark ecotourism project for the Dongfanghong Forestry Region. The site now draws a steady stream of visitors, delivering consistent economic benefits to the Qingshan Management Station and supporting the forestry sector’s ongoing transformation.

The peak is celebrated for its three iconic natural attractions: sunrise, sea of clouds and pine forest waves. As one of the earliest locations in China to witness the sunrise, it has become a favoured destination for photographers and nature enthusiasts. Significant infrastructure upgrades have been completed this year, including a renovated observation tower, improved viewing trails, a new camping site and a cloud‑top guesthouse, enhancing visitor experience and supporting diverse wellness and leisure offerings.

Positioned at the forefront of China’s low‑carbon and wellness tourism development, Shenfeng Peak integrates ecological protection with industrial innovation. The ongoing enhancements support the sustainable growth of the local green wellness sector, while preserving the ecological integrity of the Wanda Mountains. Future development will focus on expanding eco‑friendly facilities and promoting cultural tourism events, reinforcing its status as a leading destination for nature‑based and wellness travel in northeast China.
