Nansha Urban Central Area Completes Lighting Upgrade Project to Revitalise Nightscape and Boost Local Night-time Economy

According to local urban construction official releases, after 90 days of intensive construction work, a full lighting improvement project undertaken in the central urban zone of Nansha has been delivered. Guided by the principles of ecology, smart technology and public benefit, the scheme crafts a delicate and striking night-time lighting landscape across the district.

The light environment upgrade covers the core Jiaomen River zone, Fenghuang Lake Park, Taiji Park and ten key non-motor vehicle lanes, with more than several thousand new lighting fixtures installed. Adopting warm colour temperature as the main tone, the overhaul reshapes the entire night-time urban landscape of central Nansha. The upgraded lighting system moves far beyond simply illuminating pedestrian routes, bringing comprehensive nightscape upgrades to the whole coastal new town, striking a fine balance between everyday human warmth and sophisticated urban features.

Parts of the central Nansha district previously suffered from ageing lighting infrastructure and unlit stretches along slow-traffic routes, creating inconvenience for residents travelling after dark. The upgrade targets these practical livelihood issues by carrying out systematic renovations on major thoroughfares including Jiaoxi Road, Haibin Road, Fenghuang Avenue and Huanshi Avenue. The ten non-motor vehicle lanes have undergone complete revamping, connecting a total of 22.5 kilometres of slow travel routes by fixing lighting gaps and eliminating unlit zones entirely. Soft warm light now evenly covers pavements and greenways after sunset, removing the need for pedestrians and cyclists to navigate dim stretches. Functional lighting is seamlessly combined with scenic light effects, turning urban roads into safe commuter routes and humanised corridors that enhance residents’ sense of safety and wellbeing during night journeys.

Three major parks have received synchronous lighting facelifts. Gentle lighting wraps around Jiaomen River Park, refined light arrangements adorn Fenghuang Lake Park, and open, well-structured illumination defines Taiji Park. Warm light outlines architectural silhouettes, while eco-friendly light fixtures blend seamlessly with vegetation, creating layered, well-balanced night scenes. Visitors can enjoy shifting views while strolling in the evening breeze and experience an aesthetic integration of smart technology and natural ecology, turning public night-time spaces into pleasant, inviting spots for relaxation.

A dedicated night lighting control hub has been built alongside the physical lighting installations. Relying on an integrated intelligent management platform, all lighting facilities across the zone can be centrally scheduled, with one-touch switches available for daily operation, festival display and emergency response modes. The hub serves as the core operational node for unified nightscape administration across Nansha District.

The whole project adheres strictly to low-carbon and eco-friendly design standards. Low-energy LED lamps, precisely adjusted beam angles and anti-glare configurations are deployed throughout the site. These measures preserve the natural darkness of the night sky while delivering comfortable visual conditions, resulting in a brilliant yet tranquil urban nightscape.

The enhanced waterfront light corridors and three landmark parks draw growing numbers of local residents and tourists for evening visits. Foot traffic to nearby commercial premises rises steadily, unlocking sustained growth potential for the local night-time economy.
