Xinjiang Railway Launches 100 Tourism Trains to Boost Regional Tourism in 2026

Xinjiang Railway Department has recently held a launch event themed "Tianshan Snow Lotus · Silk Road New Journey – Xinjiang Railway 2026 Tourism Products and New Oriental Express Upgrade", announcing plans to operate 100 tourism special trains throughout this year.

The department is committed to expanding the influence of its "Tianshan Snow Lotus" service brand and adhering to a development strategy featuring more direct routes between northern and southern Xinjiang, filling service gaps in prefectures and prefecture-level cities, upgrading intercity services, attracting external railway bureaus’ participation, promoting tourism outward, and providing customized services for individual needs.

To enrich travel options for visitors, it will continue to improve its multi-level and multi-functional tourism product matrix, which consists of the New Oriental Express, Tianshan Train and ordinary speed special trains, helping tourists explore the beautiful scenery of Xinjiang by train.

The tourism special trains will break regional and seasonal restrictions. In addition to the classic north-south Xinjiang loop routes, the annual tourism products will further open up high-quality inter-provincial routes covering Southwest China, Northeast China, Hong Kong and Macao, with regular operation from March to October.

To meet the travel needs of winter ice and snow tourism enthusiasts, Xinjiang will continue to operate the "China Snow Capital · My Altay" ice and snow themed train, which adopts an overnight operation mode that allows passengers to depart in the evening and arrive at their destination the next morning.

This series of measures will not only facilitate tourists’ travel but also further tap the potential of Xinjiang’s tourism resources, promoting the integrated development of transportation and tourism and injecting new vitality into the regional economic and social development.
