Longde County in Ningxia Boosts Farmers’ Income Through Innovative Agriculture-Linked Mechanisms

As the critical spring ploughing period gets underway, the agricultural machinery service team in Yangyehe Village, Shenlin Township, Longde County, Ningxia, is particularly busy. Ploughing, sowing and film covering are carried out in an orderly manner, and the “one-stop” shared agricultural machinery service has not only liberated the labor force but also brought tangible convenience and benefits to surrounding villagers, according to China Tibet Network.

In recent years, based on its actual county conditions and focusing on the core goal of increasing farmers’ income, Longde County has aligned with Guyuan City’s four mechanisms—interest linkage, production and marketing connection, factor allocation, and market entity cultivation—and innovatively launched four farmer-linked models, namely “shareholding operation”, “embedded field guarantee”, “three-zero common prosperity” and “three-link and three-increase”, reported Guangming Daily.

Zhang Kangning, a villager from Yangyehe Village, said: “Since the establishment of the village’s agricultural machinery service team, farmers’ income has increased significantly. This year, with high oil prices, ploughing an mu of land costs about 150 yuan elsewhere, but our team only charges a maximum of 100 yuan, saving each farmer 50 yuan per mu.”

Yang Yinggui, Party Secretary of Yangyehe Village, Shenlin Township, stated that the village has explored a “Party branch + cooperative + enterprise + farmer” shareholding operation model. The village collective has taken the lead in establishing an economic cooperative, integrating agricultural machinery such as small and medium-sized tractors and seeders through equity conversion, and building a socialized service system of “unified management, maintenance, scheduling and operation” to undertake the whole-chain agricultural services of ploughing, sowing, pest control and harvesting.

In 2025, the village’s collective economic income rose steadily to 200,000 yuan, of which 60,000 yuan was used for villagers’ dividends, 60,000 yuan for full land trusteeship funds, and another 60,000 yuan for labor remuneration. “We have turned farmers’ simple land transfer fees into tangible income, increasing from 150 yuan per mu to 300 to 500 yuan per mu,” Yang Yinggui added.

In Shibali Village, Shatang Town, the “embedded field guarantee” model has brought tangible benefits to farmers. Zhu Cunhua, a 64-year-old villager, said happily: “I used to work on farmland at home. Since the vegetable company opened, I have worked here near my home, earning more than 100 yuan a day and about 10,000 to 20,000 yuan a year.”

Relying on its location in the core area of Liupanshan cool vegetable industry, the village has built a large-scale and standardized vegetable base with Changsheng Vegetable Professional Cooperative as the leader. It has innovatively set aside 20% of the base’s total land as “embedded fields” to attract local farmers to participate in planting, integrating small farmers into the modern vegetable industry system.

In Xinmin Village, Shatang Town, the “three-zero common prosperity” model—zero-cost shed supply, zero-risk technology and zero-threshold sales—has solved the three major problems of funds, technology and market for farmers to participate in the edible fungi industry. Ningxia Yuheqing Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. in the town has introduced 32 sets of new production equipment and 26 sterilization cabinets this year, producing 300,000 fungus sticks per day and driving more than 1,000 surrounding villagers to find employment.

Zhang Xia, a worker at the company, said: “I have worked here for two years, driving a forklift to load and transport fungus sticks. I earn 6,000 yuan a month, and my annual income is quite good.” In recent years, Longde County has absorbed more than 2,300 people in stable employment or planting through these mechanisms, and the edible fungi industry is expected to increase the per capita disposable income of rural residents by more than 700 yuan this year.
