Tea Tasting and Testing Center Busy in Shuangjiang, Yunnan, Boosting Tea Industry Trust
As tea farmers across China are busy picking and processing tea leaves in the peak season, experts at the Tea Testing, Tasting and Traceability Center in Shuangjiang Lahu, Wa, Bulang and Dai Autonomous County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, are entering their busiest period of the year. The center, established to ensure tea quality and build trust between producers and consumers, has become a key pillar supporting the local tea industry’s high-quality development.
Xinhua News Agency reports that Shuangjiang County boasts more than 340,000 mu of tea gardens and is home to national geographical indication protected products such as "Bingdao Old Village Tea (Bingdao Zhengshan Tea)". Endowed with abundant tea resources and excellent quality, the county has long been an important tea-producing area in Yunnan.
To further enhance the credibility of local tea products and smooth the sales channel, the local government established the Tea Testing, Tasting and Traceability Center in March 2025. The center has built a strict quality evaluation and traceability system, providing authoritative certification for tea products and breaking through the "trust chain" between production and sales, which has effectively promoted the healthy development of the local tea industry.

Li Meihua, an expert at the center, said the team conducts multi-dimensional blind testing on each tea sample and affixes the regional public brand logo of "Shuangjiang · Mengku Large-leaf Tea" to qualified products, ensuring that high-quality tea is directly supplied to e-commerce platforms. "Our strict testing standards not only guarantee the quality of tea but also help consumers identify genuine high-quality products," she added.
The center’s efforts have yielded remarkable results. So far, it has received more than 26,000 tea samples, covering major tea-producing areas such as Yunnan, Guangxi and Fujian. Xinhua News Agency notes that the center has promoted more than 10,000 qualified tea products for sales, effectively improving the efficiency of e-commerce selection.
E-commerce has become a key driver of Shuangjiang’s tea sales. In 2025, the county’s tea e-commerce sales exceeded 1.4 billion yuan, with 6 live broadcast rooms ranking among the top 10 on a major e-commerce platform. Among them, 3 enterprises achieved annual sales exceeding 100 million yuan. The county’s tea e-commerce return rate is only one-third of the national average in the same industry, thanks to the quality guarantee provided by the testing center.
Backed by the "three-in-one" development model of "one tasting center, one e-commerce association and one linkage mechanism", Shuangjiang’s tea industry has seen continuous improvement in brand influence and market competitiveness. The busy scene at the testing center not only reflects the vitality of the local tea industry but also highlights China’s efforts to promote the high-quality development of characteristic agricultural industries.
