Linbi County Launches "One Spray, Three Preventions" to Safeguard Wheat Harvest

Currently, wheat in Linbi County, Anhui Province, is in the heading and flowering stage, a critical period for yield formation and also a high-incidence period for diseases and pests such as fusarium head blight, stripe rust and aphids. To firmly grasp the initiative in the summer grain harvest, the Linbi County Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has seized the agricultural season and fully launched the unified prevention and control work of "one spray, three preventions" for wheat since mid-April, using comprehensive scientific and technological prevention and control measures to fully protect the bumper summer grain harvest. People’s Network reported that this work is an important part of Linbi’s efforts to ensure food security.

"One spray, three preventions" is a key measure for the later management of summer grain. It involves scientifically mixing fungicides, insecticides, plant growth regulators and foliar fertilizers and spraying them at one time to achieve multiple effects of disease prevention, insect prevention and dry hot wind prevention. This year, Linbi County plans to implement the "one spray, three preventions" operation on about 2 million mu of wheat, striving for a unified prevention and control coverage rate of over 95%.

In recent days, plant protection drones have been operating in an orderly manner in wheat fields in various towns of Linbi County, efficiently completing pesticide spraying. The county has coordinated and integrated 31 professional prevention and control service organizations, invested 483 plant protection drones, with a daily operation capacity of about 500,000 mu, forming a rapid advancement trend of "people rest but machines do not", which has greatly improved the efficiency of disease and pest prevention and control. Anhui Daily noted that the large-scale use of drones has significantly reduced the labor intensity of farmers and ensured the timeliness and effectiveness of prevention and control.

To ensure the quality and effectiveness of prevention and control, the local government has taken multiple measures to strengthen service guarantees. The Linbi County Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issues refined meteorological element forecasts every day, continuously strengthens field monitoring and early warning, and has set up 8 technical guidance groups to go to towns, villages and fields by division, guiding farmers face-to-face on scientific drug selection, precise drug preparation and timely spraying. At the same time, it popularizes key prevention and control technologies through various channels such as on-site meetings, village radio broadcasts and informative leaflets.

"In the past, spraying pesticides by myself was time-consuming and laborious with poor results. Now the government organizes unified drone spraying, which can finish one mu of land in a few minutes, and the pesticides are scientifically prepared. We are worry-free and assured," said Zhu Zongbi, a large grain grower in Yuji Town, looking at the drones operating in the fields. Wang Wanzhou, person in charge of Linbi Riyue Ming Planting Professional Cooperative, admitted that the unified prevention and control of "one spray, three preventions" for wheat has truly solved the difficulties in the later management of large grain growers, and they are more confident in this year’s harvest.

A relevant person in charge of the Linbi County Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said that the bureau will continue to strengthen disease and pest monitoring and early warning, closely pay attention to weather changes, and timely release prevention and control information, ensuring that "no area is left unsprayed and no prevention step is delayed". This solid work lays a firm foundation for achieving a bumper summer grain harvest and safeguarding food security in the region.
