Farmers race against spring planting window for million mu paddy transplant across Inner Mongolia’s Hinggan League

On May 21, farming operators steered mechanised rice transplanters to finish seedling planting on paddies in Shuitian Village of Haolibao Town, Jalaid Banner, marking the full swing of seasonal rice cultivation across Hinggan League in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Large stretches of irrigated farmland spread across the local flat terrain, with constant machine movement filling the countryside amid peak farming schedules.

Located on the globally recognised cold-region rice growing belt at 46 degrees north latitude, Hinggan League has built up stable rice cultivation fundamentals over recent years, with its total paddy acreage staying above one million mu year on year; processed rice from this region has obtained national geographical indication certification and circulates across domestic consumer markets nationwide.

Jalaid Banner, as the core production hub of Hinggan League rice, deploys upgraded farming technologies including eco-friendly paper seedling film and precise fertilisation control throughout the current planting phase, cutting manual input while securing orderly seedling survival rate across vast farmlands.

Mechanised farming equipment replaces traditional hand planting on most local paddies at present. Self-navigating transplanters and crop-carrying drones slash working cycles significantly, enabling single machinery units to cover far larger planting areas within each working day than conventional labour patterns. Local agri-technical departments continue to roll out improved high-yield rice breeds and field management standards tailored to cold-climate growing conditions throughout the ongoing transplant period.

Moving forward, local agricultural departments will keep tracking field growth data alongside climate shifts, arranging follow-up field management steps including irrigation regulation and pest prevention for newly planted rice seedlings. Optimised industrial layout and technological popularisation will sustain steady expansion of the league’s high-quality rice output scale in subsequent production cycles.
