Yunnan’s “China’s No.1 Coffee Village” Blossoms with Coffee-Tourism Integration
Baoshan, Yunnan – Nestled beside the Nu River in Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, Xinzhai Village has earned the title of “China’s No.1 Coffee Village” with a 70-year coffee-growing heritage. Its sprawling coffee plantations stretch across the valley, forming a lush “sea of coffee” that draws visitors and industry players from home and abroad.
Covering over 13,600 mu, Xinzhai is surrounded by high mountains and bathed in a subtropical dry-hot valley climate—ideal conditions for high-quality coffee. Dozens of boutique coffee estates dot the landscape, offering full-process experiences from picking and pulping to roasting and hand brewing. The village is dotted with coffee-themed courtyards, specialty coffee feasts and creative graffiti, blending local culture with coffee aesthetics.

According to China News Service on 4 June, these estates weave together valley scenery and coffee resources, creating a one-stop destination for coffee enthusiasts. Visitors walk through shaded coffee groves, learn to brew coffee under guidance, and sample freshly processed beans. The village’s elevated viewing platforms have become popular spots for capturing panoramic views of the endless coffee plantations.
Xinzhai has developed a distinctive “estate-plus” model that integrates primary, secondary and tertiary industries. It now boasts six boutique coffee estates and ten themed courtyards, having welcomed over 260,000 tourists in 2025 alone. The village has been designated a national 3A-level tourist attraction, with “Baoshan Small-Grain Coffee” as its core geographical indication brand.
Beyond tourism, the village is building a complete industrial chain. Local enterprises have launched branded products including roasted beans, pour-over sachets and freeze-dried coffee, while a village-led company links farmers to markets. With support from agricultural institutions, high-quality varieties such as Typica, Bourbon and Gesha are widely planted, achieving a fine coffee rate of 80%.
Looking ahead, Xinzhai will expand its coffee-tourism offerings, enhance product innovation and strengthen international cooperation. The village will continue to promote the high-quality development of the coffee industry, reinforcing its position as a leading coffee destination in China.
